An inspirational Port Seton boy, who suffers from a condition which prevents him from smiling, has defied medics by learning to play the bagpipes.

George Read was born with the rare Moebius syndrome, which has left one side of his face paralysed.

Doctors claimed the youngster might never be able to learn to ride a bike, walk on grass or even drink from a straw after being diagnosed with the rare condition.

But brave George, who also has to wear sunglasses to protect his sensitive eyes, has amazed doctors after he was sent home from school last year with a chanter to help his mouth movements.
