Gardening enthusiasts Denise and John Dawkins have created a haven of tranquillity at their home in Kay Gardens, Cockenzie.
For the second year running, the couple have clinched the award for best garden in an annual competition organised by Cockenzie and Port Seton In Bloom.
Denise became interested in gardening as a child helping her grandfather, but it was after being diagnosed with ME in 2002 that her garden became her passion.
A full-time worker with adults with learning disabilities, as well as a part-time aerobics instructor, she found it difficult to adapt to the slower pace of life after being forced to take early retirement due to ill health.
She told the News: “From being very active, I suddenly had a sedentary lifestyle.
“I find gardening is very therapeutic. It’s not just a garden, it is a restorative haven - for me and for visitors. People love walking around the garden. It is a very sensory garden and it is also tranquil and serene.”
