Allan Minto, East Lothian Council’s Golf Tourism Officer, has scooped a top industry award. He won the first ever Gold Star Award at the annual Golf Tourism Scotland (GTS) presentations in recognition of his services to the golf tourism industry – collecting his trophy at an awards ceremony at the Marriot Dalmahoy Golf and Country Club in Edinburgh.
He said: “I was thrilled and surprised when it was announced I had won! It is a fantastic feeling, particularly because the award has been judged by the golf tourism industry.”
Allan puts his win down to the work that has been happening in partnership with the East Lothian Golf Tourism Alliance.
He said: “The alliance has been held up as an example of best practice in Scotland as public and private sector working together in partnership. We have been talking to organisations in other areas to help them set up a similar working relationship.”
Councillor John McMillan, Cabinet Spokesperson for Economic Development and Tourism, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Allan has won this new award. It underlines the excellent work in East Lothian to promote the area as Scotland’s Golf Coast.”
