Snooker ace Ross to face Perth rival

Scott Donaldson (Perth) will play Ross Muir (Musselburgh) in the final of the Event 3 of the Scottish U-16 series sponsored by John McGovern Windows, Doors & Conservatories.

Just back from reaching the semi finals of the European U-17 Championship, Donaldson made it through the day without dropping a frame.

After winning his group, which included an excellent 100 break, Donaldson beat Lee Mein of Edinburgh by 2 frames to nil in the quarter finals. He then took care of the improving Thomas McLeod of Dunfermline to seal his final place.

Junior Pot Black Champion Muir finished third in his group which also included a century break in doing so.

Experienced

Muir then needed deciding frames to see off Scott Roarty of Midlothian and Greg Ritchie of Musselburgh to ensure another final with his rival Donaldson.

Eleven-year-old Ethan Laing (Perth) also showed his potential by reaching his first quarter final after getting through the group stages before losing out to the more experienced Greig Ritchie of Musselburgh.

This will be the third time in the U-16 series that Muir and Donaldson will have contested the final with each currently having one victory each.
