Ross works out with Dame Kelly

‘Future Stars with Kelly’ athlete Ross Matheson (Lasswade AC) from Tranent is looking forward to an exciting summer on the track in a year infused with anticipation for the upcoming Olympic Games in London.

Ross started 2012 with an action packed Aviva-sponsored ‘On Camp with Kelly’ Get-Together, benefiting from some valuable advice from double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes. 22 athletes and some of their coaches including Ross’s coach David Campbell, took part in the event at the excellent facilities at Tonbridge School Centre last month.

Ross (19) took part in a weekend of intensive training including circuit training, aqua-jogging and Pilates and a running session on the hills of Knole Park in Sevenoaks, where Dame Kelly used to train.

However, it wasn’t all physical; Dame Kelly also timetabled in a UK Anti-Doping 100% me workshop and a goal setting session with sport psychologist Dr Anna Waters. The athletes were able to set out personal goals for the year and reflect on 2011, focusing on both the successes and where there could be room for improvement.
