Peebles take spoils against Musselburgh

North Berwick v Portobello

North Berwick v Portobello

League leaders Musselburgh travelled to Peebles for the expected tough encounter, only to find it would be even tougher due to an injury to try-scoring winger James Murray in the pre-match warm-up.

Play was even in the early stages, although Peebles centres Calum Scott and James Hemara looked dangerous, and following a break by Scott, Burgh conceded a penalty which standoff Raeburn played to touch, before a drive to the line was cleared by O’Hagan.

Having taken the early initiative Peebles forced another error from Burgh, only for Raeburn to miss what appeared to be a very kickable penalty. At this stage, Burgh were under the cosh, and following another break by Peebles, the concession of another penalty came as no surprise.

The surprise duly came in the form of another missed penalty, when Raeburn should have put the home side ahead.
