Musselburgh lose top of table clash

Musselburgh went down 15-3 to Hawick in top of the table clash on Saturday.

On a bitterly cold winter’s day Musselburgh travelled to Hawick for the crucial table topping crunch game with Hawick YM, carrying with them a large expectant support.

On a sticky, windswept pitch, YM’s Ali Weir kicked off into the wind before Burgh set things in motion creating a fine platform for David O’Hagan to clear.

A rampaging burst by the in-form Paddy Kirkland punched a few holes in the home rearguard, and he was ably supported by his pack before Burgh shipped it through the hands in a promising move before handling errors caused it to peter out.

Hawick’s half-backs Campbell and Weir were performing admirably under intense pressure, behind a retreating pack, making several last ditch clearances, as Burgh drove on.
