Musselburgh fail to make headway
In the first early kick off this season Burgh hosted Murrayfield Wanderers in an attempt to get back on the rails following last week’s defeat to Peebles.
The visitors themselves were coming off a staggering 97-0 win last week so Burgh anticipated a tough encounter against a side not short of confidence as a consequence.
David O’Hagan got proceedings under way on a bright cold afternoon and Burgh showed early fluency, attacking up the left flank by way of inter-passing between Brierly, Cook and the returning Willie Todd. The pack was also playing their part as Fleming led from the front ably assisted by Hall and Hutchison in several heavy forward drives. Musselburghs early pressure eventually paid dividends and following a drive by Brierly the pack fed O’Hagan who shipped it wide through the hands of Lance Gahan who charged over in the corner for the opening score. David O’Hagan warmed the spectator’s hands on a bitterly cold day drawing loud applause for a superb touchline conversion and a 7-0 lead.
