Musselburgh Athletic take centre stage
Tranent Juniors v Pumpherston Juniors
EAST Lothian’s sole remaining Scottish Cup representatives Musselburgh Athletic take centre stage tomorrow for their Emirates Scottish Junior Cup third round tie at Olivebank against Bellshill Athletic.
Musselburgh, of course, were 2011 beaten finalists to Auchinleck, and like Bellshill, have yet to concede a Scottish Cup goal this season.
This will be Musselburgh’s overall 17th match of the season with only six wins under their belts and 32 goals scored, with 29 conceded. A Scottish Cup win would be welcomed by the faithful Burgh fans. In their pre Scottish Cup league game on Saturday, Burgh lost 1-0 at Bo’ness United in the East Super League.
The weekend’s South League action saw no East Lothian losers – with fine wins for Haddington Athletic over visitors Whitburn, while Dunbar hit four past visiting Falkirk at New Countess Park.
At Forester’s Park, however, Tranent Juniors failed to overcome Pumpherston, drawing 0-0 in a disappointing result for the Belters.
Striker’s full round-up and Junior match reports are in this week’s News. On sale now.
