Marshall slips to 13th in world bowls rankings
Alex Marshall
Alex ‘Tattie’ Marshall’s search to win his first title World Bowls Tour title away from the world indoor singles goes on after he made a quarter-final exit in the Co-operative Funeralcare Welsh Grand Prix in Llanelli.
For the second year in succession Marshall’s good friend and ex East Lothian teammate Paul Foster got the better of him, winning 9-3, 11-5.
After a disappointing 2011/12 World Bowls Tour campaign Alex Marshall now finds himself down at No.13 from seventh but the immediate threat to his position in the top 16 is not in jeopardy as he still has a healthy points cushion over the 16th placed player.
Meanwhile, East Lothian IBC men’s side grip on the Scottish Cup is well and truly over after the defending champions went down to a very concerning 98-55 defeat from fellow Premier League side Falkirk in last Saturday’s first round action.
