London finals for Loretto rugby side
Victorious Loretto rugby team
Despite a somewhat disappointing performance by the national Scotland Rugby team in their first two Six Nations matches, the Loretto School 1st XV team from Musselburgh are keeping Scotland’s dreams alive by winning the National Qualifier for the Schools 6 Nations Tournament hosted by London Scottish FC in Richmond in March.
The talented Loretto team took to the pitch in the qualifying tournament in Edinburgh earlier this month and won all of their matches, beating Edinburgh BATS RFC, Ayr Academy,
Musselburgh RFC and Fettes College to secure their spot to represent Scotland against teams from England, Wales, Ireland, France and Italy in the finals.
The Powder Byrne School Six Nations Tournament will offer the Loretto team the opportunity to fly the flag for Scottish rugby and pit their skills against some of the leading rugby schools from the home countries, France and Italy, competing against each other at Richmond Athletic Ground over the weekend of March 11-13.
Danny Rossouw, Director of Rugby at Loretto, said: “This was an excellent achievement by the Loretto team and the boys are looking forward to travelling to London to represent Scotland in the finals of the 6 Nations.”
