Junior football season kicks off

With the exception of Dunbar United, East Lothian's junior football clubs kicked off a brand new season 2010/2011 on Wednesday August 4 with cracking League Cup ties, writes Striker.

The games continue this Saturday and into next week on Monday and Wednesday evenings.

Some clubs are involved in a four games in eight days rush as the new season gets under way as keen local derbies saw Haddington Athletic visit Tranent Juniors and Musselburgh visit Arniston Rangers.

Competitive

Dunbar United feature in the seven club Section 4 of the League Cup competition and so missed out on this mid week's start but filled the gap with a super friendly match at home to a Hearts X1.

Dunbar now catch up with three games in five days starting this Saturday August 7 away to local rivals Haddington Athletic at Millfield, both teams keen to get back playing competitive football in the new season.
