Jubilee Cup returns to West Barns

WEST Barns' passport into the 2011 renewal of the Scottish Inter County Top Ten Tournament was rubber stamped by a emphatic 8-0 victory over Port Seton in the final of the East Lothian Top Ten championship played at a sun drenched Aberlady.

Wins in the singles, pairs, triples and fours ensured the Sunday morning feeling was a glorious one for the West Barns camp with the prestigious Jubilee Cup in their trophy cabinet for the third time in five years.

West Barns champion Alister 'Bongo' Kennedy put the first points on the board after he edged a cracking contest with fellow cap Derek Oliver 21-20.

Whitewash

Alan Borthwick and Willie Wood made it 4-0 with a 14-11 victory over Tommy Thomson and Craig Valentine in the pairs while the triples encounter was a no contest as Dougie Kennedy, Calum Gordon and Gary Landells ran out 22-9 winners against John Gearty, Steven Thomson and David Oliver.

Kevin Thomson, Chris O'Brien, Kenny Watt and Struan Robertson completed the whitewash in the fours as they snatched a 17-16 triumph over Mick Blair, Gordon Baillie, Ronnie Branley and Steven Morgan.

In the earlier semi-final action West Barns eased to a 6-2 victory over defending champions Tranent while Port Seton beat Aberlady by a similar scoreline at Longniddry.
