Golfer Catriona receives Freedom of East Lothian
North Berwick golfer Catriona Matthew became the first Freewoman of East Lothian at a ceremony her home town.
She was the first Scot to win the Women's British Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes golf club last August.
East Lothian Provost Sheena Richardson presented Catriona with a medal and scroll at the Marine Hotel.
Raised in North Berwick and a former pupil of the High School, Catriona is also a former Scottish Girls golf champion, Scottish under-21 champion, three times Scottish Amateur Champion, and as winner of the British Women's Amateur title in 1993.
Victory
She also played in three Curtis Cup teams before turning professional in 1994.
Following her British Open win, Catriona earned a spot on the European Solheim Cup Team.
She has been a member of the LPGA since 1995, has three official Tour victories, one unofficial victory at the HSBC LPGA Brasil Cup 2009, and has made five appearances on the European Solheim Cup Team.
Catriona was voted the Ladies' European Tour Players' Player of the Year in December 2009 and was awarded an MBE for services to golf in the 2010 New Year Honours.
