Golf club optimistic for forthcoming season
Improvements to the course and the clubhouse are to be embarked upon by Glen Golf Club.
Club captain, Alasdair Kerr, used the club's AGM to announce the improvements, telling members at the North Berwick club that it had come through 2009 in a much better financial position than expected.
The captain said that the further improvements would ensure a better course for members and visitors.
He said the Glen Golf Club had rallied well in difficult circumstances for golf in 2009 to stabilise its membership and to attract more visitors to the course and he said the Glen was confident that it could approach 2010 in a healthy financial state.
Adjacent
The club also announced further investment in improvements to the course and clubhouse.
The club has now incorporated land acquired adjacent to the sixth and seventh holes into the course and this will come fully into play during the 2010 season.
The par five sixth hole has also been redesigned with new bunkering on the fairway and around the green.
Bookings
This will ensure that the hole continues as the most difficult on the course.
Captain Kerr said: "The message to visiting societies is that if you want to come to the Glen next season get your bookings in now."
