Free admission for all at Musselburgh Races on Monday

Racegoers will be welomed free of charge at Musselburgh on Monday afternoon, July 6.

As part of the Blue Square Supports the Muirfield Riduing for the Disabled Raceday, there will be free admission for all racegoers with many additional entertainments staged in the picnic area also free of charge.

To highlight their role in giving the disabled of all ages the taste of 'life in the saddle' the Muirfield branch of the RDA will be bringing their ponies to the racecourse and, in a specially designated arena within the picnic area, they will be giving demonstrations of their work, encouraging racegoers to become familiar with the ponies and, around 4pm, will be organising the Muirfield RDA Pony Race.

There will be the usual children's entertainments in action at Monday's free raceday plus a full programme of competitive racing on the course itself.

His presence in the saddle caused Mystified to be sent off favourite marginally ahead of Jim Goldie's five time course winner Kyber.

The latter was given plenty to do by Paul Norton who had his mount right out the back turning for home with the intention of bringing him with a powerful swoop to snatch the honours close home. This was wishful thinking as the two front runners Mystified and the eventual winner Monte Pattino were showing no sign of stopping as the line approached.

The Colin Teague trained Monte Pattino, a winner at Musselburgh earlier in the season, was most competently ridden by the experienced amateur Scott Dobson and landed some tidy bets in the process. Scott rides out daily for the successful Scotch Corner trainer Alan Swinbank and after Monday's win now moves into second place in the Bollinger Series still 16 points adrift of Simon Walker.
