East Lothian clubs look to the future

The winter weather will continue to play a big part in the planning and preparation for tomorrow’s East Lothian junior football matches on the last Saturday of 2012.

However, for the likes of Haddington Athletic they have already hung up their boots for the year with no fixture this weekend. The Hi-Hi will be ready to resume next weekend, weather permitting, continuing their 2012 /2013 South League season at the top with a “first foot” visit to Pumpherston.

Haddington have reached the turn of the year in pole position at the top of the South League not quite at the half way stage in their promotion chasing campaign but with a determined bid to finish 2012/2013 at least in a top four promotion winning place to join next season’s refreshed Premier League the Millfielders will take one important game at a time as the excitement builds up in the spring.

East Region Super League Musselburgh Athletic are due to travel to Hill o’ Beath in the league tomorrow. Last season the Burgh lost 4-2 at Olivebank to the Fifers but in a crucial relegation battle rematch in May Musselburgh came good at just the right time with a stunning 3-0 away win at Hill o’ Beath.

East Lothian’s Dunbar United and Tranent Juniors are both ambitious enough to believe that they have a chance of finishing in a top four South League promotion winning place come the end of the season but with a huge tally of 28 league games overall to play in the season there is still a great deal to play for and they are not yet even at their half way stage.
