East Lothian hopes of qualification from the highly competitive East section to the knockout stage of the Scottish Counties Championship suffered a blow.
The county side was left licking the wounds of a 127-119 at the hands of Borders in Hawick on Saturday.
“I am gutted by this result and it was always a close fought match but it was Borders who finished the match stronger and in the end probably deserved to win,” said team captain Brian Young.
Wins for the rinks skipped by Brian Young (+13), Derek Oliver (+6), Alister Kennedy (+3) and Steven Morgan (+1) could not cover the pain of heavy double figure defeats being inflicted upon Billy Mellors (-12) and Alex Marshall MBE (-19). The side set out to repair the damage of the defeat tomorrow (Saturday) when they play arch rivals Edinburgh & Leith at Port Seton. The selectors have decided against pushing the panic button in making wholesale changes and make only one enforced change with EL Co-op’s Jamie Blair replacing the unavailable David Oliver.
