Dunbar United miss the freeze
Dunbar United staked their claim to be serious contenders for this season’s finishing top four South League promotion places qualifying for next season’s Premier League with a workmanlike 3-0 victory over visiting West Calder United at New Countess Park last Saturday.
Dunbar had the distinction of being the only East Region club to escape last Saturday’s frost with every other game postponed due to frozen pitches.
The Seasiders took full advantage to move up to joint fourth top of the South Division level on points with Livingston and Whitburn who do still edge Dunbar on goal difference though.
Tomorrow Dunbar will be put to the test in the League away to Arniston Rangers who shocked league leaders Haddington Athletic by 3-1 just two weeks ago at Newbyres Park. Arniston go for two consecutive East Lothian scalps with their game at Stoneyburn last Saturday a non starter.
Dunbar will return home next Saturday for two in a row League fixtures against Blackburn and Pumpherston finishing the year away at Livingston United. By then the Seasiders will be hoping to still be in the running for promotion lying in the top four places with arguably a good bit of the championship season still to go in the new year.
