Craig retains triathlon title
Craig Dale, centre, of Tranent claimed the Scottish Men's Sprint Championship title on Sunday at Strathclyde Country Park, the triathlon venue for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Graham Leitch from Glasgow followed him down the home straight into second and Fyth-born Andrew Hood claimed third.
Dale, who won the title last year, dominated the race and exited the water first from the 750m swim. He continued to keep the lead throughout the bike and run and claimed the Championships in an impressive 01:02:21.
Dale relished the opportunity to equal his result last year. "I was really pleased with my performance," he said. "It was good to retain the title from last year. Leading the swim was a big confidence booster and for it then to continue was fantastic.
"The course was great, the cycle was a bit up and down which made it hard for me to get into a rhythm. There were also a couple of nasty climbs on the run. I really enjoyed it though and it was nice for the sun to come out in the end."
