Bowlers' Scottish Cup bid on track
East Lothian IBC's latest bid to win the Scottish Cup title for a fourth time gathered momentum following a comfortable 31 shot victory over Cumbernauld in their first round clash at Stirling IBC.
Cumbernauld are the minnows of Division 2 so it was expected that the premier league record title holders would not only win, but win well.
However, the garden county side went into the clash without the influential services of top skips Alex Marshall and Paul Foster but even without the deadly duo EL ran out convincing winners to book their place in the third round and a clash against Stirling at Headwell IBC on Saturday March 6 awaits.
Wins for the rinks skipped by Willie Wood, Derek Oliver and Graham Robertson ensured it would be East Lothian's day.
However, Cumbernauld will take heart that they inflicted defeat on former national singles champion Scott Kennedy.

On Sunday in marathon 10 hour competition the young brigade scooped the silverware at the Abbeyview Top Ten tournament for the third time in four years. Wins in the triples and fours events carried the day for EL as it more than compensated for the defeats sustained in the singles and pairs action.
