Bowlers return to form after early fright

East Lothian's men's team bounced back from their disappointing opening game defeat with a comprehensive 21 shot victory at home to Premier League new boys Dundee.

A shock had looked on the cards early on with Graeme Robertson 7-0 down, Paul Foster 8-0 down and Alex Marshall 6-3 down although Willie Wood was 9-0 up.

By halfway, however, East Lothian had managed to scrape into a four shot lead before stretching away over the second half of the game.

Alex Marshall top scored having been 6-3 down to only lose three more shots and skip Stuart Wyllie, Stevie Thomson and Andy Jeffrey to a 23-9 victory with Paul Foster and his rink of Mally Higgenbotham, James Hogg and Scott Kennedy hitting back from 10-1 down to win 19-13.

Tricky

Graeme Robertson also came back strongly from 16-6 down to skip Jamie Higgins, Dougie Berwick and Brian Wyllie to a 22-20 triumph while Willie Wood and his rink of Colin Cook, John Stevenson and Derek Oliver, having started quickly, were the opposite and surrendered a 17-4 lead to lose 21-22.

There's no game this week for the gents team due to the national singles and they are next in action when they face a tricky away trip to Aberdeen on Saturday October 24.
