Bowlers all set for 'the Scottish'
The preliminary round ties in the Scottish National Championships qualifiers get under way around the county on Monday May 24.
In the afternoon the senior fours take place at West Barns, Cockenzie & Port Seton, Cockburnspath and North Berwick greens with all games starting at 2pm.
In the evening, the prelims of the singles, pairs, triples and fours are on the greens at Gullane, Stenton, EL Co-op, Prestongrange and Longniddry.
With two representatives from each club being allowed in the junior singles this year Polson Park will host four of the ties in this competition.
Hosted
The mixed pairs are currently being played on Wednesday evenings with the preliminary round ties making history on the green at Athelstaneford.
Having only recently joined the SBA, Athelstaneford hosted their first ever "Scottish" ties.
Cockenzie & Port Seton and Prestongrange booked their place in Wednesday's first round at the expense of Haddington and Gullane respectively while Stenton got a walkover when Winton and Pencaitland failed to turn up.
Competitive
The first round ties took place on Wednesday May 19 at Aberlady and East Linton.
Competition is always keen in "the Scottish" and the organisers can look forward to some competitive games before the finals take place at Polson Park on Monday June 21.
