Badminton honours hat-trick for Fraser
East Lothian PAIS (performance athlete in schools) badminton player, Fraser Whillans (Preston Lodge) celebrated a treble by winning the boys singles, boys doubles and mixed at the Lothian Schools U-16 Championships.
In the boys singles, seeding went as planned with Whillans and Graham Pettigrew (Linlithgow) both reaching the final with Whillans taking the title 21/18, 21/11.
In the boys doubles 14-year-old Whillans teamed up with Edinburgh player Tommy Reynolds to win his second title 21/10, 21/12 against Graham Pettigrew and 13- year-old Preston Lodge pupil Euan Cameron, also an East Lothian PAIS athlete.
In the mixed doubles Whillans partnered his young sister Shona (10) to have a superb win against Tommy Reynolds and Sofia Cogliano, both Edinburgh.
Finish
In the girls singles PAIS athlete Anna Devine (Preston Lodge) excelled to reach the final of the girls singles but Hannah Wade (West Lothian) was just too strong and took the title 21/14 21/8.
Anna reached her second final of the day with regular partner Amy Kerr (Preston Lodge) and had a nail biting finish to win the title 28/26 against Victoria Fraser (Edinburgh) and Hannah Wade (W Lothian).
