Athletes lines up for cross country championships

A snow covered Meadowmill was the venue for the 2013 East Lothian open cross country championships last Sunday.

The event was revived following a three year break whilst the new track was being built at Meadowmill.

There were 10 championship awards on offer and East Lothian competitors were winners in seven events. Five awards going to the ladies and two to the men.

Emma Johnson from East Linton held off her sister to win the girls U9 event. Eloise Gray, also from East Linton, was the U-11 winner. Linda McCandlish (Dunbar RC) won the U-13 girls’ race and Rhonna Anderson (DRC) from North Berwick, won the senior women’s race. Callum Clark (LAC) from Inveresk, was the sole competitor in the U- 17 men’s race.
