Another trophy for middle distance runner Ross
The trophy cabinet at Ross Matheson's home in Tranent is starting to bulge!
The 17-year-old middle distance athlete, competing for Ross High School, picked up yet another championship title when he comfortably won the Scottish Schools O-16 indoor 1500 metres at Kelvin Hall.
After an 'easy' run in his heat where he qualified in second place in 4m31.9s he went on to win the final in 4m5.3sm a full five seconds ahead of his rivals.
Peter Loudon, Preston Lodge High School, won his heat of the O-16 800 metres in 1m59.9s, but had to pull out of the final with an injury.
Winning
Fiona Matheson, Ross High, finished fourth in her heat of the U-16 girls 1500mt in 5m23 and then ran in the 800m heats where she finished 5th in 2m40s.
In the Scottish Senior Indoor Championships at Kelvin Hall last Saturday Guy Learmonth (LAC), Scottish U-20 record holder, continued his good form winning the under 20 men's 800m in 1m52.77s.
Lauren Peffers (EAC) picked up the silver medal in the senior women's 400m clocking 59.27s after winning her heat in 59.85.
Sarah Warnock (EAC) showed her jumping skills by taking the bronze medal in the women's triple jump with 11.54m and was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.47m.
