Andrew Crichton wins Lasswade race
Andrew Crichton (EAC) had a close battle with Lasswade AC’s Barney Phillips in the men’s six mile race at Gorebridge last Sunday.
With the local club supporters rooting for Barney it was only in the last 50 metres that Andrew managed to wrest the lead from Barney and win in 29m57s. Callum Reid (HELP) had his first taste of ‘Muddy lane’ and did well to finish eighth.
Other East Lothian runners were Peter Loudon (EAC) and Kevin Smith (LAC). In the senior women’s event Ruth Watson (HELP) was the only local. However, her daughter Rachel helped EAC to a team prize in the U-15 girls race. Prospects look good for 10-year-old Even Friery who was well up in the boys U-11 event. Harris Wastle and Sam Connolly were the only other HELP juniors taking part. Down at Lauder there was a good turn out for the Border’s League cross country race.
