Two badminton titles for Fraser

Thirteen-year-old Preston Lodge pupil Fraser Whillans was a double winner in the U-15 boys singles and boys doubles in the Yonex East of Scotland Junior Championships held at Meadowbank Sports Centre.
Top seeded Whillans reached the final comfortably beating Edinburgh player Tommy Reynolds in two straight sets 21/8, 21/19.

In the final Whillans did not have it all his own way having a tough three set match against second seed Joshua Holder (Lo
chcarron).

Whilllans won the first set comfortably 21/7 however the tables turned in the second game when he went down 21/17.

In the final set Whillans took control and after a hard fought game claimed the title winning the final set 21/15.

Toppled

In the boys doubles Whillans teamed up with Glasgow School of Sport athlete Jordan Gilvear to claim there seeded position by reaching the final.

In the final, after a thrilling three set match, they toppled the top seeds Adam Hall (Glasgow S. of Sport) and James Milton (Mauchline) 21/13, 17/21, 21/19.

In the U-17 age group Megan Richardson (Haddington) teamed up with new partner Martin Lou from Northern Ireland to win the title 21/15, 21/11 against Peter Walker (Dundee) and Shereen Spittal (Mauchline.

Megan and Hannah Laing (Haddington) also reached the semi final of the girl's doubles where they lost out to eventual winners Anna Kay (Irvine) and Rachel Mcleod (Stonehaven).
