A leading legal firm is celebrating 20 years of sponsorship at Musselburgh Racecourse by supporting the East Lothian track's last jumps meeting of the season on Wednesday, February 13.
Anderson Strathern has been one of Musselburgh's biggest supporters over the last two decades, sponsoring a race meeting each year since 1988.

The Anderson Strathern Race Day brings down the curtain on Musselburgh's richest National Hunt season to
date and the feature race is the £10,000 Anderson Strathern 20 Years of Sponsorship Juvenile Novices Handicap Hurdle, run over two miles.

Musselburgh Racecourse general manager Bill Farnsworth said he was delighted the Edinburgh-based solicitors had offered continuous support to the racecourse.

Returning

Mr Farnsworth said: "Anderson Strathern have supported us through thick and thin, from the difficult years when the course was struggling and through our redevelopment and transformation in to one of the UK's best racecourses.

"We are delighted that 20 years on from their first visit to Musselburgh that they still enjoy returning each year.

"We hope they will feel the same way about their local racecourse in another 20 years and look forward to building on the strong relationship which has evolved."

Highlights of the National Hunt season have included an increased attendance at the New Year Sprint meeting and being able to offer £90,000 prize money at Musselburgh's richest jumps meeting on February 3.

Frost

Mr Farnsworth added: "It's been a successful jumps season in terms of increased prize money and attracting top quality horses and trainers.

"Attendance is slightly down but that was largely due to losing a meeting in December due to frost.

"We are hoping for a decent crowd on this last jumps meeting of the season and then the preparations begin immediately for the start of our flat season on Easter Sunday."

Gates open on Wednesday at noon, the first race is off at 1.50pm and the last at 4.30pm.
