A Musselburgh councillor has slammed East Lothian Council’s administration for ‘slashing’ the budget of the local secondary school.

Councillor Stuart Currie (SNP) is furious that £123,000 is being cut from Musselburgh Grammar School, the largest secondary school in East Lothian.

The council has responded by pointing out that the reduction in core funding is due to a falling school roll and other financial adjustments.

The row comes after the school was criticised in a recent report by inspectors.
