A Haddington family’s heartbreaking story of wartime sacrifice will be commemorated in the town this weekend.

Descendants of the Cranston family from around the globe are joining Scottish relatives to pay tribute to their remarkable forefathers and mark the centenary of the Great War.

The Cranston family’s trials in World War One are documented in a new book, Blood On The Thistle, written by Stuart Pearson and Bob Mitchell and released today (Saturday).
