An Ormiston daredevil will throw himself into the (very) deep end on Saturday (July 5) to raise funds for a Scottish disability charity.

Seasoned Capability Scotland fundraiser Gordon Lamb and brothers Iain and Michael McHale, from Pathhead, are swimming across the notorious Gulf of Corryvreckan in a bid to raise funds for new hydrotherapy facilities for Capability Scotland’s Upper Springland Service in Perth.

Separating the islands of Jura and Scarba, the Gulf of Corryvreckan is home to the world’s third largest whirlpool. Named after a Norse King, Corryvreckan has been compared to the gateway to hell and stories are often told of sailors who drowned while trying to navigate a passage through the body of water.
