An inspirational Ormiston mum is preparing to take on a tough half marathon race to raise cash for the Sick Kids Friends Foundation (SKFF).

Communications officer Jen Martin (35) will be running the first Scottish Half Marathon, which takes place in East Lothian in September.

She hopes to raise money for the charity as a thank-you for the treatment her son Sam received when he was admitted to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children (RHSC) in Edinburgh.

Jen visited the RHSC twice in the last year with the 14-month-old and was impressed by the range and quality of SKFF facilities provided for sick children and their families.
