Worker tells of turbine horror

A worker has told a fatal accident inquiry how he held the hand of a Dunbar teenager who lay dying after falling 60ft down a turbine shaft.

Michael Bonner said he rushed to the scene after Basilio Brazao (19) plunged down the shaft at Earlsburn wind farm near Fintry, Stirlingshire.

He told the hearing how for seven years he had thought “constantly” about the lad lying in a pool of blood after he fell during the construction of the windfarm in 2007.

He said he went into the shaft and Mr Brazao lying near a ladder at the bottom, with blood coming from his head.
