Women killed in road crash near Dunbar

A second woman has died following a road cash on the A1 near Torness Nuclear Power Station last Thursday night (January 9).

The accident involving a Ford Ka and Ford Focus happened near Torness Nuclear Power Station at around 7.40pm.

Police have launched an investigation.

Police Scotland spokesman: “A 21-year-old female passenger, who was travelling within the Ka, sustained serious injuries and passed away at the scene.”

The 21-year-old woman who was driving the Ka has since died of her injuries.

Another female passenger, aged 20, was taken to hospital along with the 23-year-old male driver and 20-year-old female passenger from the Focus after all occupants suffered various injuries.

Road Policing officers carried out a thorough enquiry at the scene and the road was closed for around six hours.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has information that can assist police with their investigation is asked to come forward immediately.”
