Police are trying to trace a middle-aged woman suspected of throwing stones at a delivery van in North Berwick.

An appeal has been made for witnesses to the incident, which happened just before 11.45am on Thursday, January 9 in Luffness.

A Mercedes Sprinter was parked in the street while the driver delivered a parcel and a woman began to throw stones at the vehicle causing minor damage to the paintwork.

The suspect then walked along the roadway between Aberlady Mains and Luffness before making off into the woods at the side of the road.

She is described as white, in her 50s, with shoulder length greying hair and was wearing lime green trousers and a similar coloured jacket.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “The van driver did not know the suspect and this appears to have been a completely unprovoked act.

“We are now keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed anything suspicious.

“In addition, anyone who can help identify this woman is also asked to come forward.”
