Whitecraig man snorted cocaine during New Year celebrations in Musselburgh

Security staff at a Musselburgh nigh spot called the police after a New Year reveller was caught snorting cocaine.

When they arrived at the scene, 24-year-old Frankie Rankine had been ejected from the premises and was seen to have white powder around his nose.

A search was carried out and the officers recovered around half a gramme of cocaine, worth an estimated £20.

Appearing at Haddington Sheriff Court last Wednesday, Rankine, who lives with his parents at 167 Whitecraig Avenue, Whitecraig, was fined £400.
