Warning after Vandals torch derelict Prestonpans building

Lothian Coated Fabrics, Prestonpans.

Fire ripped through the roof of a derelict building in Prestonpans following the latest in a spate of attacks by vandals.

The incident last Thursday, has prompted police and fire officers to issue a warning to local youths on the potentially tragic consequences of wilful fire-raising.

Emergency services were called to the building in Mid Road Industrial Estate around 8pm, after criminals gained entry and set fire to discarded rubbish and old carpets.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent two appliances, from Musselburgh and Tranent, and the blaze was quickly brought under control.

While nobody was injured, the fire caused extensive damage to the roof of the building, adjacent to the former Lothian Coated Fabrics premises.
