A Wallyford man who claimed he could not get about without the aid of crutches was caught out after he was spotted playing golf.

James Hastie claimed more than £2,000 of disability benefit he was not entitled to after telling the Department of Work and Pensions he could not walk unaided due to him suffering from a childhood hip condition.

But Hastie, of 67 Salters Road, was caught cheating the benefits system after DWP officials placed him under surveillance and watched as he walked about without his crutches and played a round of golf without showing any signs of disability.
