A last-minute rallying call to villagers in Cockenzie and Port Seton appears to have saved this year’s gala celebrations.
Organiser of the event had warned that the 2014 gala could be scaled down – or even cancelled – due to a dire shortage of helpers.
Following a series of appeals to parents whose youngsters will be involved in the festivities, the gala committee is now confident that the full quota of stewards and other volunteers can be achieved.
Between now and the big day – on Saturday, June 14 – the committee hopes to fill any remaining slots.
A meeting is being held in the Port Seton Centre at 7pm on Monday, May 12, when there will be a final opportunity to sign up.
