Two kayakers were rescued by the North Berwick lifeboat after getting into difficulty in the North Sea on Sunday afternoon.
A lifeboat volunteer who went to the aid of the two men believes they are lucky to have been spotted by members of the public onshore.
The local crew launched their D Class inshore craft, the Evelyn M, when they received reports of two casualties in the water. They were paged by Aberdeen Coastguard at 1.27 pm after staff at the Scottish Seabird Centre spotted two kayakers in difficulties after a capsize.
The lifeboat was launched and was quickly on scene, carrying out a search of the area.
