Tributes have been paid to a Musselburgh teenager who drowned while swimming with friends in an Edinburgh reservoir.
The body of 14-year-old Bockarie Sonnah was recovered from Edinburgh’s Torduff Reservoir on Monday night following a major search operation involving underwater rescue teams.
The alarm was raised shortly after 6pm on Monday when Bockarie was seen to get into difficulty while he and other boys were jumping into the water from the banks of the reservoir, in Bonaly Country Park.
Despite efforts to reach him he disappeared from sight.
Specialist resources were deployed , including Police Scotland’s Marine Unit, who later discovered the teenager’s body. Previously from the Longstone area, the youngster had been living in Musselburgh with his foster family for the past year.
