Tranent Care Home residents need to be reassured

An MSP is seeking renewed assurances on the future of Tranent Care Home, which is included in a review of its parent company’s business.

Jim Hume, the Liberal-Democrat member for South Scotland, wants the care home owner to confirm that the process will not impact on services for residents and that they and their families are kept fully engaged during the review.

The 60-bed unit in Coal Neuk Court provides dementia care and nursing care and is run by HC-One, a company owned by Nursing Home Properties.

In a letter to Mr Hume, HC-One’s chairman, Dr Chai Patel, confirmed that the priority was the wellbeing and care of residents.
