Parking charges may be introduced in East Lothian streets if a solution cannot be found to support a county-wide traffic warden service.
The stark warning was given at Tuesday’s meeting of East Lothian Council’s cabinet, when councillors discussed options for the future.
East Lothian had two traffic wardens – reduced from five – prior to the introduction of Police Scotland, but the new force decided to axe the service nationwide.
