An 86-year-old woman has been left “deeply upset” after thieves snatched her handbag as she shopped in Dunbar on Monday.

She was in the Pik ‘n’ Choose store on the High Street around 11.40am when two women and a man entered, and made their way to the aisle she was in.

At this time the trio used “distraction tactics” before all rushing out the door.

When the pensioner went to pay for her items, she realised her bag, which contained a three figure sum of cash, had been stolen and contacted police.

Officers are now asking for anyone who can help trace the suspects to come forward.

Constable Clark Taylor said: “The woman was left deeply upset at the theft of her bag and possessions and we are keen to trace those responsible as soon as possible.

“Anyone who was in the store on Monday morning and remembers seeing anything suspicious is asked to contact police immediately.”

Contact Police Scotland on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
