A teenage boy was assaulted by another youth for “giving him cheek” on Facebook.

The 16-year-old called an ambulance to take him to hospital after being attacked by Dillin Armstrong in Prestonpans.

Appearing at Haddington Sheriff Court last Wednesday, Armstrong (18) was ordered to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work as part of a community payback order.

The court heard the accused had since been thrown out of his mother’s house at 62 South Seton Park, Port Seton, after smashing lamps and furniture with a hammer during another incident.

Now living at 18 Dury’s Way, Wallyford, Armstrong had previously admitted assaulting another boy in Preston Road, Prestonpans, on September 1 last year, while acting with others.

He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at his mother’s address on December 8 and subsequently breaching a special condition of bail prohibiting him from entering South Seton Park.
