The congregation of Northesk Parish Church is reaching out to the Fisherrow community as its celebrates its 175th anniversary this month.
The highlight of the programme will be a visit from the Moderator of the General Assembly, the Right Reverend Lorna Hood, during morning worship on Sunday, September 29.
Rev Alison Matheson hopes local residents will join past and present members for the service, which starts at 11am and will be followed by refreshments in the church hall.
Former minister Rev Ron Brown and his predecessor Rev Fred Shewen have also been invited to attend.
It was in June 1836, after calling a meeting in the Old Town Hall, that the need for a new church was identified by concerned parishioners of Inveresk.
With seating for only 2,200, Inveresk Kirk was unable to accommodate a further 2,718 parishioners who wished to attend services.
