Pupils at an East Lothian school are being asked to provide show-and-tell tours for mums and dads as an alternative to parents meeting teachers one-to-one.
Traditional talks between teacher and parent may be shelved at King’s Meadow Primary School in Haddington under proposals to improve youngsters’ presentations skills and “promote ownership” of their learning.
Instead, children will take their parents on a 25-minute tour of their classroom work, with staff on hand to assist.
But the initiative has raised concerns among some parents, who believe interviewing teaching staff is the best method of gauging a pupil’s progress.
