‘Serious concerns’ over care at Pencaitland home

Owners of an East Lothian care home have been ordered to improve conditions or face closure amid serious concerns about the quality of care being provided.

Scotland’s social care watchdog, the Care Inspectorate, has served a formal improvement notice on European Care Ltd to address issues at Tyneholm Stables Care Home in Pencaitland.

The notice to the Birmingham-based company highlighted 12 areas of concern: planning, nutrition, fluid intake, medication management, skin care, health and safety, infection control, the environment, equipment, staffing, quality assurance and training.
