School traffic restrictions will counter ‘poor driving’ in Haddington

Have your say

Vehicles are being banned from three Haddington streets near schools in response to concerns over driving standards.

An 18-month trial begins today (Monday) in Neilson Park Road, Victoria Road and Wemyss Place and will be effective from 8.30-9.30am and 3-4pm from Mondays-Thursdays and 8.30-9.30am and 11.45am-12.45pm on Fridays during school term time.

Councillor Michael Veitch, East Lothian Council’s cabinet member for transport, said: “The council has received concerns in recent years from parents, teachers and residents in roads leading to schools about poor and potentially dangerous driving practices.”
